Sriranganatha Swamy Temple:

Thiruvarangam Perumal Temple is a temple located in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The temple was built between the 6th and 9th centuries. Situated on an area of 156 acres, this temple is considered to be the largest Hindu temple in the world.

Meenakshi Amman Temple

Popularly known as the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. The temple is said to have been first built in the 6th century. Then in the 16th century it was expanded into the existing structure with many changes.

AMBARNATH TEMPLE:

This temple is located in Maharashtra and was built for Lord Shiva. This temple is also known as the Ambariswarar Shiva Temple. It was built in 1060 AD. It is said to have been built by King Shilahara of Chittorgarh and renovated by his son Mummuni.

BRIHADEESWARAR TEMPLE

This is a Shiva temple located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. It is also known as the Rajarajeswaram Temple. One of the oldest temples in India, this temple reflects the beautiful architecture of the Cholas. It was built by King Rajaraja Chola. The temple was completed in the year 1010 AD.

 Kailasa Temple Ellora:

Kailash Temple is one of the largest cave temples in India. It is located in Ellora, Maharashtra. According to historical records, the temple was built in the 8th century AD.

Mamallapuram Beach Temple:

 The temple is one of the oldest architectural temples in South India. It was built around 700 AD during the reign of Narasimha Varman II.

Somnath Temple:

Built in the 7th century for Lord Shiva, this temple is located in Gujarat. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples. The temple is believed to have been originally built by the Shiuna dynasty. But has been repeatedly destroyed and re-aligned. It was finally demolished in 1024 AD by the famous king Ghajini Mohammad

​ Kedarnath Temple

Although the exact date of this Shiva temple is not known, it is believed to have been built in the 8th century AD, after Adi Shankaracharya visited the site. To reach the temple, one has to walk a distance of 14 km as it is not possible to go by road.

Adi Kumbheswarar Temple:

Built by the Cholas for Lord Shiva, this temple is located in Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu. Built in the early ninth century, the temple now covers an area of 30,181 square feet. This is the place where the song was sung by Upper and Sundar. The mahamagam, which is held once in twelve years, is specially celebrated here.

Jagatpita Brahma Temple

 This temple is one of the very few temples dedicated to Lord Brahma and is the most important of them all. This temple is located in Rajasthan and is believed to be 2000 years old

 Varadaraja Perumal Temple

Proud Correction in Special Fig. Dedicated to Perumal, this temple is one of the 108 Divine Lands of the Lord. Located in Kanchipuram, this temple was built by the Cholas in the 11th century.

Badami Cave Temples

These cave temples have Hindu, Jain and Buddhist symbols. Located in Karnataka, these temples reflect the structure of the oldest temples in India. These were carved by sculptors during the reign of the Chalukya kings in the sixth century AD.  

 


 

Badrinath Temple

The temple is located in Badrinath, Uttarakhand and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is one of the four holy places. According to some historical sources, it was a Buddhist temple until Adi Shankaracharya converted it into a Hindu temple in the 8th century.

Lingaraja Temple

This temple is one of the oldest and largest temples in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The temple is a symbol of Kalinga architecture and is said to have been built in the 6th century and later expanded in the 11th century. This is a temple built for Lord Shiva.

Virupaksha Temple:

Virupaksha Temple, located on the banks of the river Thumbapadra in Hampi, Karnataka, is considered to be one of the holiest temples in Hampi. Built in the 7th century, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva under the name of Virupaksha.
